Safety Training
Aims:
Course Overview:
This module is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required for effective and safe rescue operations using a Davit Arm system. Participants will learn how to correctly select, set up, and operate the Davit Arm and associated equipment for fall arrest, winching, and rescue situations.
Course Content:
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
Understand the components and operation of the Davit Arm rescue system.
Safely select and anchor the Davit Arm for various confined space or fall hazard rescue scenarios.
Operate fall arrest and retrieval systems in conjunction with the Davit Arm.
Perform winching techniques to safely lower or raise casualties.
Apply rescue techniques effectively, ensuring the safety of both the rescuer and the casualty.
Demonstrate rescue skills through hands-on practical exercises using the Davit Arm system.
Module Content:
1. Selection of Davit Arm
Overview of different Davit Arm systems and their applications.
Criteria for selecting the correct Davit Arm for the job.
Understanding the limitations of various models and configurations.
2. Anchorage
Types of anchorage points and their importance in ensuring system stability.
Guidelines for identifying suitable anchorage points.
Correct installation of the Davit Arm to ensure secure anchorage.
3. Fall Arrest and Retrieval Systems
Components of a fall arrest system (harnesses, lanyards, etc.).
Integration of fall arrest systems with the Davit Arm for safe work-at-height scenarios.
Understanding how retrieval systems work in case of a fall.
4. Winching Techniques
Types of winches used with the Davit Arm.
Safe winching procedures: lowering and raising personnel or equipment.
How to maintain control during winching operations to prevent further harm to casualties.
5. Rescue Techniques
Methods for securing casualties in a confined space or high-risk area.
Safe approaches to extract injured personnel using the Davit Arm.
Assessing risks before and during the rescue operation.
6. Rescue Practical
Hands-on practice of Davit Arm setup, anchorage, and operation.
Practical exercises where participants will simulate rescuing a casualty from a confined space.
Debrief and feedback on performance, focusing on improving rescue efficiency and safety.
Assessment:
Participants will be evaluated on their ability to:
Correctly select and set up the Davit Arm system.
Safely anchor the Davit Arm in various scenarios.
Operate fall arrest and winching systems during a rescue.
Demonstrate effective rescue techniques in practical exercises.
