The IPAF MEWP Operator Training Course is for anyone who needs to safely and effectively operate a MEWP in any machine category.
Also, anyone who may be required to supervise or rescue an operator would benefit from completing the course. This is an entry-level course; candidates do not need any prior experience of operating a MEWP.
The qualification, represented by the iconic IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) Card, is recognised worldwide as a sign of high quality operator training.
The course consists of a theory section and test, followed by practical training and a test at an IPAF Approved Training Centre. The theory section can be taken either as eLearning, in-person, or virtually.

Aims:

The IPAF programme is designed for managers, supervisors and operatives who may need use or control powered access equipment. This course is approved by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
The IPAF Scissor & Boom training course provides delegates with a thorough understanding of the need for safety associated with powered access equipment.


Course Content:

• Introduction to the scope of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
• Pre-theory test.
• Health & Safety legislation.
• Operator responsibilities.
• Safe operating guide.
• Safe use of Mobile Elevating Working Platforms (MEWPS).
• Machine pre-user checks.
• Safe working environments.
• Machine familiarisation.
• Pre-start safety checks & function controls.
• Machine operating session.
• Practical test.

Classroom based tutorials with group participation combined with practical exercises.
Delegates must successfully pass both theory and practical assessment.
Delegates should provide a pps & passport photograph on the day of training for production of Powered Access Licence (PAL) Cards. Delegates must also provide suitable PPE to include own safety footwear, waterproofs (if necessary), hard hat and hi visibility jacket/vest

Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course.

The content of this course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide full training in maintenance of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates (further information available upon request). Practical exercises will not be experiencing falls of any kind. The delegate will not be deemed competent in rescue procedures
