This training course is aimed at the following:
- Emergency Response Team members.
- Health & Safety Officers and Environmental Coordinators.
- Employees working in environments where chemicals or hazardous substances are stored or used.
- Supervisors and managers responsible for chemical safety and spill response.
Pre-requisites for joining this course: Completed Mod1 and Mod 2, Previous competency in Chemicals safety.
Course Content:
The course covers the following elements:
- Introduction to HazMat & Spill Control
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Spill Contamination & Control Techniques
- Emergency Procedures & Escalation
- Post-Incident Review & Environmental Considerations
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
- Identify hazardous materials and interpret Safety Data Sheets.
- Assess chemical spill risks and determine appropriate response actions.
- Select and use correct PPE for chemical emergencies.
- Apply spill containment and cleanup techniques safely.
- Communicate effectively during HazMat incidents and complete required documentation.
Assessment Method:
- Written Assessment: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions on HazMat principles and spill control.
- Practical Assessment: Hands-on spill containment and PPE exercise.
Continuous Assessment: Participation in group discussions and scenario-based drills
