Safety Training
Aims:
This classroom based course is designed for individuals who are required to design and/or work in excavations.
Course Content:
Course Objectives Outline the legislative background driving health, safety and welfare considerations in deep excavations •Outline ground-related risks associated with deep excavations •Outline ground support options for deep excavations •Outline processes for selection of suitable support systems •Present the technical background for design of ground support systems •Outline the inspection and verification procedures required for effective management of deep excavations Learning objectives •Understand and summarise the current health, safety and welfare legislative framework as it relates to deep excavations •Identify ground-related risks and understand how ground-related risks are managed •Compare ground support options for deep excavations and prioritise design criteria for selection of a suitable and safe system •Integrate the technical background for design of ground support systems into the selection of safe ground support systems •Evaluate ground support system safety
