Aims:

Upon completion of this course the learner should have the relevant skills and knowledge to use the equipment – Trench Boxes and Vertishores in excavations.
It will also give the learner training on the Health and Safety Authority on Safe System of Work Plan and the Approved Form 3 which are relevant to safety in excavation.
The learner should be able to understand the basic requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 as it applies to employers and employees.

Objectives

 By the end of this programme the learner will:

• Understand the theory of Safety in Excavations.
• Understand the practical use Safety in Excavation Equipment, selecting and pre user inspection. (Equipment knowledge check)
• Be familiar with the relevant legislation
• Recognise the dangers of excavation works.
• Select appropriate control measures
• Correctly select equipment

Duration

The Programme is delivered over one day including theoretical and practical exercises using the Vertishores and Trench Boxes with an anticipated start time at 08:00 am and a conclusion at 4.30pm each day.
